BuyAway Terms of Use

Effective 5 September 2026

These terms govern your use of the BuyAway app, operated by Haim Elbaz, Israel (“we”). By creating an account you agree to them. If you do not, do not use the app.

1. What BuyAway is

BuyAway compares the price of a product where you are standing with its price in your home country, using a barcode, public product databases, exchange rates and prices recorded by other users. It is a decision aid. It does not sell anything, does not process payments and does not take part in any purchase you make.

2. Prices, rates and tax information are indicative

  • Prices shown for your home country come from public databases, government-published retail files, and other users’ reports. They may be out of date, apply to a different pack size, or simply be wrong. The app labels the age and source of a price where it knows them. Check before you rely on a number.
  • Exchange rates are indicative mid-market rates and are not the rate your card issuer will charge. The app says when a rate is cached rather than live.
  • Tax, duty and tax-free information is general information about a country’s rules. It is not tax, customs or legal advice, may not reflect the latest law, and does not account for your personal situation. Customs allowances are your responsibility to check and declare.

We make no promise that any figure is accurate, complete or current.

3. Alcohol and other age-restricted goods

Some of the products people compare with BuyAway — spirits among them — are age-restricted where they are sold. The app shows prices; it does not sell anything or verify age. It is your responsibility to comply with the law that applies to you, including the legal purchasing age and import allowances where you are and where you are going. BuyAway is intended for adults.

4. Your account

You need an account to use the app. Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account. Give us a working email address. You may delete your account at any time from Settings; this erases your data as described in the privacy policy.

5. Prices you contribute

When contribution is switched on, prices you enter are added to an anonymous aggregate that other users see. In return you agree to enter prices honestly, as you actually saw them. Do not enter made-up figures, prices for the wrong product, or use the app to promote or damage any shop. We may remove contributions and close accounts that abuse this.

6. Acceptable use

Do not attempt to access other users’ data, to defeat the app’s security, to scrape or bulk-download the aggregate, to overload the service, or to use the app for anything unlawful.

7. Third-party services

Product and price data come from Open Food Facts, Open Prices, UPC Item DB and, for Israel, retail chains’ published price files; exchange rates from a public rate service. Those services have their own terms and licences and we do not control their content or availability.

8. Availability and changes

The app is provided free of charge, as is, and may change or stop at any time. We may update these terms; the app will tell you when a change matters, and continuing to use it after that means you accept the new terms.

9. Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from your reliance on a price, rate, tax figure or other information in the app, from a purchase you make or do not make, or from the app being unavailable. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including under consumer-protection law where you live.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, and any dispute belongs to the competent courts of Tel Aviv, without affecting the mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live.
