For the aisle between the gate and the plane
Stop doing currency maths in the aisle.
Scan the barcode. BuyAway finds what the same thing costs back home, converts it at today's rate, and gives you a verdict before the queue moves.
Free. No ads. Barcodes are read on your phone, not in a cloud.
The premise
Duty-free is not a discount. It's a question.
Sometimes the airport bottle really is cheaper. Often the supermarket at home beats it, once you convert honestly and remember the tax is already in the price. BuyAway answers the question in the time it takes to lift the bottle off the shelf.
How it works
A barcode, a database, an exchange rate. One multiplication.
That is the whole design. No guessing, no model, nothing clever between the shelf and the verdict.
Scan
Point the camera at the barcode. Shop-printed codes nobody knows? Photograph the label and the words on it find the product instead.
Compare
The price back home comes from real shelves: the retail chains' own published price lists, open price databases, and what other travellers recorded.
Decide
One verdict, in your currency, with the rate and its age shown. Buy it here, wait for home, or about the same. Then tick it off.
Plan before you fly
List what you mean to buy and what it costs at home. Scanning it abroad goes straight to a verdict.
The duty-free bar
Your allowance for spirits, wine and perfume fills up as you add things, so the second bottle never surprises you at customs.
Tax-free, explained
What the refund is roughly worth, the minimum spend, and the honest note that a foreign VAT rate is already inside the shelf price.
Prices from people
The price you record joins an anonymous aggregate other travellers see. Switch it off any time; your own data stays yours.
Works on a bad connection
Rates are cached and labelled with their age. A stale rate is shown as stale, never passed off as live.
Speaks your language
English, Hebrew, Russian and Spanish, in one typeface, with prices formatted the way your country writes them.
No AI. Deliberately.
Nothing here estimates, predicts or hallucinates a price. A barcode is looked up, a rate is applied, a number is shown. If there is no price, the app says so and asks you for the one on the tag.
Your data
Read on your phone, not in our cloud.
Barcodes are decoded on the device and label photos never leave it. Your account holds only what it takes to sync your lists, hosted in the EU, and you can erase all of it yourself from Settings. The privacy policy is written to be read, not scrolled past.
- No analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs. None.
- No location, contacts or photo library access.
- Other travellers see only anonymous aggregates, never your name or your prices.
- Delete your account in-app; the database cascade leaves nothing behind.
